From Lissa: Yes It WAS Michael Jackson On The Simpsons Back In The Day! Matt Groening's Story...

August 30, 2018

THIS is something I’ve wondered about since I was 8 yrs old. Theres an iconic episode of the simpsons where Homer goes to the mental institution & meets a guy who thinks he’s Michael Jackson. They become friends. Rumors always swirled that it was really MJ doing the voice, some said it was just a really great MJ impersonator (because he wasn’t in the credits) – it was BOTH. Matt Groening, the show creator, said Michael did all the speaking parts but his label wouldn’t let him sing so they got an impersonator to do that part. AND Matt said it was Michael who called HIM and asked to be on the show because he loved it. Matt originally hung up on him because he didn’t believe it was him!

As Matt Groening told The Weekly With Charlie Pickering: "We really did have him. He didn’t want credit for, or there was some kind of deal with his record company or whatever, so when it came time to sing the songs, he had a sound-a-like singer. He stood there and watched the guy, who was so nervous who had to sound like Michael Jackson, and then he giggled."

Can you imagine SINGING like Michael Jackson as Michael Jackson's WATCHING you??? #HolyPressure
