My Gram was my idol. She was hilarious, musical, kind to all, eternally joyful = everything I strive to be. She passed away on Saturday after a long & extruciating battle with dementia and I just wanted to share the beautiful gift she gave me a few weeks ago...

When I flew home to Michigan to surprise my Mom for Mothers Day, I also got to spend an entire day with Gram & Gramp - helping feed them, read to them, chat, sing. And she RECOGNIZED me that day! (It's been a couple years since that was a lock). Grandma & I spent a whole magical day together. Little did I know it'd be the last time I saw her. What a wonderful blessing to get that final visit!! That pic of me (below) with my head on her shoulder is one of the last ever taken of her. I will treasure it always. Just like I treasure her. I'm not somebody who needs to be reminded to tell people I love them or to appreciate my family. I'm somebody who says it too much, signs off every phone call/text with it, and hugs people just because they walked into the room. Excessive? Don't care. I'm accutely aware of how fragile life is and how lucky I am to have people I love!!! RIP darling Gram. I'll keep you alive in every precious day through kindness, humor, and LOVE.
